About Justin

Sheriff Marr is a husband, a father, and a Victoria native. Sheriff Marr has dedicated his professional life to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office where he has served the people of Victoria County for 25 years, the last 3 years as the elected Sheriff.

After graduating Victoria High School and attending Victoria College, Sheriff Marr began his law enforcement career at the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer in 1998. In 2000 he completed the Victoria Police Academy as the Valedictorian of his class. Sheriff Marr joined the patrol division at the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy in 2001 and then began leading new deputies as a field- training officer. Sheriff Marr served in the patrol division as a sergeant up until the time he was elected Sheriff in 2020.

Sheriff Marr holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate, a Jailer License, and was a Victoria County SWAT member for 10 years. He is a graduate of the Texas Police Chiefs Association “Developing Leaders for Texas Law Enforcement” program and has completed the FBI Command College.

Sheriff Marr sits on the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission’s Regional Public Safety Advisory Committee, Homeland Security Subcommittee, as well as the Board of Trustees for Gulf Bend. He is a board member of Hope of South Texas and sits on the Nursery ISD School Safety Committee. Additionally, Sheriff Marr serves as a director for Texas Sheriff’s Regional Alliance and serves as Board Director for the Crossroads/HIDTA Task Force.

Sheriff Marr is the son of Jack and Sharon Marr of Victoria. He has been married to his wife, Jennifer for 25 years. Their daughter, Katlyn, is in her second year of veterinary school at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. The Marr’s son, Garrett, is a 2023 Victoria College graduate and is employed with Turner Industries.

Sheriff Marr has also been involved in the community as a little league coach, Vice President of the VISD Ag Farm Booster Club and a board member for the Lone Star Youth Rodeo Association. Sheriff Marr is a lifetime member of the Victoria 100 Club and an associate member of the Victoria County Republican Women’s Club and is very active with the Victoria County Republican Party.

Sheriff Marr has worked to supervise, train and mentor countless deputies at the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office over the last 25 years. He knows the business of law enforcement and has dedicated his life in advancing the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office by cultivating and improving lasting professional relationships with local public safety partners, county officials, regional public safety organizations and statewide public safety organizations.

Sheriff Marr’s experience as a jailer, patrol officer, patrol supervisor and Sheriff give him the unique and complete insight into all functions of the Sheriff’s Office as well as the necessary experience to lead the Sheriff’s Office into the future.

Sheriff Marr knows the needs of employees and citizens and will continue to work to unify resources to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office. He firmly believes that Public Safety is the primary goal of his Office and that your safety is his success.

Sheriff Marr has demonstrated that he is dedicated, determined and dependable throughout his career and is ready to continue to serve the citizens of Victoria County as their Sheriff.
